Caution...Read Labels Carefully

BTW - I have a new follower! At least one who isn't afraid to admit that they follow! Whoohoo! It makes me feel popular....;o)

For those of you who have talked to me in the last 2 weeks, you all know that we have had a bit of an infection going around. One that causes you to have to disinfect not only your house, but the people in it too. I am thoroughly grossed out by the whole sordid ordeal, but dealing, healing and cleaning.....

Well, you know those caution labels they put on all household cleaners? The ones that tell you to avoid inhaling them and mixing them with other caustic cleaners? Well, I am fully aware of what they say, but when you are touching every possible surface in your home with bleach, you get a little lax about it all. So, there I was, cleaning the bathroom. I spray the cleaner, then bend down to scrub, when all of a sudden I get this big mouthful of bleach! No sweat. Stand up, walk out of the room, fresh air, etc...go back to cleaning. Only thing is all I taste the rest of the day is bleach, and it is a little "sratchy" when "I swallow.

Well, the next morning, my chest hurt really bad. hmmm... could that be from the push-ups, diamonds and medicine ball work-out the day before? Well, throat hurts too...Oh, no!!!! I run upstairs to google all of the possible secondary infections I could get from the first infection, and wouldn't you know it.....pneumonia is one of them...I tell Micky I need to go to the emergency room (4th of July)! He opens one eye (I think I forgot to tell you that this was like at 7 am, and the kids were at Gran's) and says "don't think so babe," and rolls over. I panic. I am sure all day long that I am horribly ill and need to seek medical treatment. Being it is a holiday weekend and all, I decide the best scenario is to monitor my symtoms and follow up with my regular doctor (that's another story I will share later) on Monday.

So, Monday rolls around, and I am still feeling pretty crappy, but no fever and the cough is not "productive." So, I go through the whole ordeal with the doctor, and then the doctor tells me that he is pretty confident that I burned my throat while cleaning, and inhaled a bit too much solvent (or had a virus). His money was on the cleaner story. He said that would be our natural defense...to produce mucus to protect our body....anyway, he then proceded to tell me that he was certain it was not realted to my other issues, WHEW! Kind of made me feel stupid, but you know what...I don't care...

Moral of the story....Live in filth or clean with a mask!

In the last 2 weeks, we have been to the doctor 9 times and Walgreens about 1,000! Jett sees an ENT on the 21st for his ears....poor baby!

Well girl. I am sorry you have been through all of this. Just imagin yourself cruising and relaxing. There are no pharmacies on the ship so you are safe.
