First Day of Kindergarten

(sadly the DVD player bit the dust about a week ago. But, Choo Choo sent the leapster back and that keeps her entertained until Mommy can leave!)

I thought I would finally share some of Ava's pictures from her first day of Kindergarten! She is super excited about being at the same school as Mommy, and this is the year of the dress (she only wears dresses to school)! Her teacher is Mrs. Giusti (Juice-T). Ava doesn't want anyone walking her to class, and as a matter of fact, recently, I wasn't feeling well, so Micky took her to school. She hopped out of the car and walked in like she owned the place!

On the first day, the only tears were from mommy! Because Kim had to be at school early, Ava and Daddy had a breakfast date at McDonald's.

The week before school, we read a different book about starting school or Kindergarten at bedtime. We would talk about what she could expect and what she was worried about. She was most concerned about finding "the perfect friend." While she has made some friends, this has proven to be a struggle. This is a skill she really hasn't ever needed. She grew up with all of her friends, and has never had to "make" friends. We are concerned, but hope that once we make the move and can invite classmates over to play, this will get easier.

Ava has been through a great deal of transition in the last 9 months. A new baby, the move, another move, a new school, and leaving her friends. Please pray for her. Kids are resiliant, but we definitely see the effects of all of this change!
